Passing On The Story

Lobby Exhibition

September 20 -

October 21, 2015

Fabric has been a tool for storytelling within the African Diaspora for centuries. Through the creation of such works like indigo, quilting, basket weaving and many other art forms, people of the African Diaspora have been able to communicate ancestral history, legacy and culture. In conjunction with a book launch of Adire: Unspoken Language, Nike Davies Okundaye's latest book, NBT had a powerful conversation where we talked to some leading artistic voices about this magical art form and begin to understand, appreciate and discover the clues hidden within the stitch, dye, and pattern.
